Is there anyone on here who took a gap year after high school and is relatively successful?

I decided I would take a gap year after high school just because I felt like it and my parents were ok with it. I’m planning on going to college in either summer or fall or whenever they’ll take me really. But I’ve been really worried lately that maybe it was a bad idea to take a gap year and that I should’ve just gone to college straight up (I had the grades to go I just didn’t apply). Yeah so I’m just wondering if anyone here took a gap year and has been relatively successful in life. Also feel free to tell me if you took a gap year and your life sucks major balls.
