Is Optimism Just Stockholm Syndrome ?

1 week ago 15

The thought crossed my mind while out for a drive yesterday. And although I do find it funny, I realised i find it relatable and relevent

I find most optimistic people are like delusionally optimistic. Just full on chugging the kool-aid. I dunno if you can really roam around with these kinds of costs of living and quality of life and tell yourself "this is wonderful!".

Its not to imply life is full throttle terrible, though thats my own opinion. But I do think life is more of a prison then one might think. I feel like a more grounded view is one noting that there is a looot of flaws in society and how were supposed to live our lives. It seems like if you deviate from the 1.5 kids, white picket fence, wife + car life there is no hope for you, and nobody cares that there isnt

I also find most things, if not everything, in life are outside of your control. Trying or not trying has nothing to do with success. And that kinda leaves you in this spot that regardless of whether you have or do not have a victim mindset, you are a victim of life and whatever it decides to throw at you. Whether things workout or not is ultimatly luck. Thinking your actions are somehow influencing that is simply Gambler's Falacy.

So its kinda left this trail of thought at the conclusion that if all this is going on and you still think everything is right and wonderful, you might be in love with your captor and lost sight of a self and an independent opinion of right/wrong and shats worth your time

What are your thoughts ?
