Long story short: 21F, half-way through a Marketing bachelor's degree (no debt, will graduate with no debt if i finish). I don't want to do marketing/office work long term, my ultimate dream is self-employed/stay at home mom.
I'm wondering if it's worth it to finish the Marketing degree (which can be done in the next 12 months at my current pace) and get a Marketing job (entry level is prob 40-50k), or instead get a full-time job now (probably closer to 35k) to start saving (I live at home and have very few expenses so I could save most of my income). If I stop the degree and instead start working now, I might even get a second job and could make more than that.
I ask this because I hope to only be in the workforce for a few years before I'm able to start a family, but I know I shouldn't bank on that, obviously. It just doesn't make sense to put another year into a degree if I won't be using it for a long time to build up to a higher-paying career, when I could start making money now.
I'm also considering getting a part-time job now to start saving and cutting back on school, delaying my graduation date (by 6-12 months). Honestly, I'm procrastinating school right now and just fucking around most days. I need to use my time better, and getting a job would kick me in gear. My question is: full-time, part-time, or try and willpower my way into working my ass off and getting the degree done ASAP to get a higher paying job? I'd love any input. Thanks!
