He has a Jewish-sounding name, he's an extreme miser (that's literally the plot point of the story), and he has a large, prominent nose in many visual depictions.
I know that antisemitism was rampant in Victorian Britain, so could it be that Charles Dickens was antisemitic too, or at least that he intentionally used the stereotypes for his own character?
