Is Cormac McCarthy considered a difficult author?

English is my second language and I consider myself fluent, but I just started Blood Meridian and feel like I don't know English at all lol. Is Blood Meridian a particularly difficult book? Any suggestions besides reading with a dictionary by my side? Really enjoying his style though.
