How do you conversate with people

Im 21 and at every job that ive worked at ive always been the least talkative person, I never talked to anyone besides the basic good morning how are you.

I actually dont remember the last time ive had a conversation with someone who wasnt either family or a highschool friend, im scared that the longer I dont fix this problem then the harder itll be to talk to people down the line.

Apart of me thinks it just comes down to mye not being confident but is that really it?
