How can you help someone bounce back in life ?

Hello,

Idk if this sub is the right place to post this but I could really use some advices so feel free to share your thoughts.

For context I’m from Europe and I’ve immigrated to the country I’m currently living in more than 20 years ago when I was around 6 years old. I used to live with my aunt and her son (my older cousin) who really treated me as their own.

I moved out once I got a job some years ago to be able to stay close to my workplace. My aunt passed away back in 2019 and my cousin’s life has been going downhill ever since. He couldn’t come over his grief and has since then divorced his wife and quit his job etc… Long story short he asked me if he could crash over at my place since the beginning of this year and ofc I told him yes.

Thing is, I’ve discovered that his depressing state has lead him to get onto all kind of weird things online and that he’s talking to his « virtual girlfriend » on the platform OnlyFans. He blows out basically tons of his money to this girl to entertain her and it’s obvious that she’s taking advantage of him. I’ve been trying to talk to him about it and how he could use his money to bounce back life but basically we got into a heated argument with him calling me a « traitor » saying that him and his mom was there for me my whole life and now as soon as I became somewhat successful I’m trying to get rid of him.

The truth is I don’t because I really consider him as my brother and it pains me to see him going downhill without being able to help. I don’t even ask him to pay anything while he’s staying at my place because I could afford to. I just asked him to stop spending his savings into futile stuff like this girl that he’ll obviously never meet. Idk what to do about this situation anymore and it’s tiring for me to see him on his phone all day talking to this girl from dusk to dawn but on the other hand I kinda can’t threaten to kick him out if he doesn’t change because I kinda owe him for everything they’ve done to me.
