Have you ever put your time in for a job that made you miserable but with a promotion or future job in the industry in sight and how did it go?

I’m curious I got promoted a couple months ago I hate my job it’s decent money but there is a job I want but have to stick it out for a year from when I started to be eligible I think I have a good shot at getting it as I have friends in the department but wow is it gonna be a long year.
