George Luis Borges still has infinite talent

I first read Borges when I was a 15 y.o. guy. I read lots of fantasy and science fiction so Borges was my gateway drug into classic fiction/literary fiction as an adult. Though I still like reading sci-fi/fantasy as well. I decided on a whim to go back and re-read one of my old collections and his work still hits hard. It's incredible how he can go from surreal to science fiction all the way to the macabre in one collection. I started writing fantasy myself and I only hope to be even half as good as Borges was. I'd say Kafka and Borges are two of my most favourite authors aside from Gene Wolfe and H.G. Wells. Borges takes on philosophy are terrifying and will keep you up at night. He also has numerous allusions to classic literature now that I've gone back to reread it. He likes to reference Shakespeare quite a lot.

If you haven't read him yet, or it's been awhile, I highly suggest reading his work. Borges undeniably deserves his place in literature as an all time great.
