Excavations at Shakhi Kora, the largest Late Chalcolithic site in the lower Sirwan/upper Diyala valley, have revealed evidence of public institutions. This 8-hectare site, located near Kalar in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, reveals four consecutive institutional households dating from LC2 to LC5.
