I (F, 24) graduated with a B.A degree in Social Justice in July 2023. Now with it being a year later I feel like my life is going no where. I have applied to 7 jobs last year and 3 this year however, I either don’t get the job, interviewed just to get interviewed, or just aren’t even considered. While I was in Uni I created a group for students with disabilities and often did papers and presentations on disability issues. Then after graduation I did a 2 month internship focusing on disability issues through an organization that consisted of people with disabilities. I know that’s the field I want to work in but don’t know how to start. I often tried after graduation to apply to local organizations for job opportunities and nothing really came out from it. I feel like now the degree I got was a waste due to hiring. And especially because even tho I have a disability & can offer insight and aiding disabled clients, non-disabled people end up taking the position.
Now I’m thinking of going back to school at a local community college. For an ASL Certificate however, there’s also other things I’m interested in like a Paralegal certification or a certificate in the social services field. I’m kind of stuck on which to choose and scared that I’ll do all this work but be in the same situation.
