Did you watch the 9/11 attack in school?

I’m not really sure if this belongs here, but…

I was having a conversation today with a friend, and we got on the subject of 9/11.

He brought up to me how his class had watched everything unfold on the news while he was in school. He was in high-school at the time.

I realized as he was telling me that my class also watched the events unfold. I thought this was odd, as I was in 2nd grade at the time.

When I got home I asked my spouse if she too watched the events occur at her school. She said yes.

This all made me think to a few years back when I was trying to introduce my kid to Reading Rainbow. The episodes are available on Amazon prime, and I put on a random episode for my kid to watch one day. The episode just so happened to be an episode they aired after the attacks occurred, with some of the beginning introduction to the episode being dedicated to the events and trying to explain the tragedy… seemingly to children. I thought, “why the fuck would this be an acceptable thing at the time to subject the minds of a developing child to without parental consent?”

I want to know if you were also subjected to this in your own school, if you were in school at the time, or even not, and why.
