Beyond the lies.. A story of more than murder. Zodiac. Not just a killer, but a group of military members & espionage

Some Background: A small team of people in Los Angeles during an informal investigation, like many others, into the Zodiac Letters began to notice in the ciphers grouping of letters like, (LTG, SK, PH etc.) and upon researching these plain text groupings from the cipher text found that they had real world definitions.

LTG is a military term for Lt. General. SK is a Naval designation for 'Storekeeper', which is a supplies manager and PH was, in the 60's, a designation in the Navy for a Photographers Mate, a position held by people who assisted the Intelligence Reconnaissance teams and were responsible for Publicity and communications for the Vietnam war effort. It was one of the only 'field' positions a woman was allowed to man during that era.

In their experience, if a code was developed as a series of substitutions and then transposed, it normally would not have easy words to read, what is known as plain text. That is the reason for the transposition of the substituted letters. It is a process to take like an A that became a C in a word and then move it to another position, so that a person trying to crack the code could not just easily view it and understand what is going on, they would need a 'key'.

On a hunch, the team began looking for more of these groupings and after a while stumbled upon a 'key' trend. It seemed that the z408 and z340 ciphers were not substituted transposed cryptograms at all, but cleverly disguised plain text, where the created just removed various vowels and consonants to disguise the wording.

It was more like a game of Wheel of Fortune, where you get a clue as to the theme and then you ask for letters to fill in the sentence or word and if you are close you could buy a vowel.

The more they followed this path, the more it seemed that the Zodiac was not just a lone killer, but a group of people from a branch of the United States Military. The theme was constant and consistent.

After 3 years of investigating and finding real names and identities within the boundaries of these letters and ciphers, the teame also noticed a trend towards adding images to letters to create even another level of coding.

Pictionary, they used strings of pictures inter woven into letters of words to tell even more of there stories and to communicate to one another in plain view using these terrorist letters published under threat of murder, to talk to each other without have a direct line of communication that could be traced.

It became clear that they were running a military type covert operation within a murder campaign disguising it as some crazy serial killer.

But for what reason. Well, the investigation lately started looking at the Bomb Diagrams that were included in some of the communications that were forced to be published, knowing they must have more meaning and be internal communications, and viola, the Bus Bomb Diagram above seems to have been a covert communication to one member of the group called VWBABE, a (PH) in the United States Navy, working out of NAS Alameda attached to a Recon Team called R-vah1 on the USS Enterprise CVN-65. She was a Zodiac Member and as far as we can tell, this Bus Bomb Diagram is an instruction to her, through the letter being published with the bomb diagram to go to another bay area Naval Base, Mare Island to pick of 'classified material' as part of a plan to smuggle top secret electronic surveillance images shot during test flights in the bay area testing what was then cutting edge naval military technology. Espionage!

The Zodiac was much more than we ever thought and apparently than our government would ever want us to know.
