Hello Team!
I’m planning to replace my impact-rated patio door and window with an impact-rated sliding door that a friend is gifting me. I live in Broward County, and I’m unsure if the county will allow me to install my friend’s sliding door since it’s not “new” and doesn’t have an “impact-rated” label, even though it is impact-rated.
My friend is simply getting rid of his sliding door, and I’m wondering:
Will Broward County allow me to install a used sliding door to replace my current patio door and window?
Does Broward County require the sliding door to have an impact-rated label to classify it as impact-rated? Can’t the inspector confirm if the door meets impact standards? I’m concerned about affecting my home insurance rate by installing a sliding door that the county doesn’t classify as hurricane impact-rated.
What permits do I need to obtain for this project?
I’m trying to save money by not hiring a contractor. Instead, I plan to work with a specialist for the installation. Do any of you know a specialist who can assist me with this?
I appreciate any help you can provide!
Thanks!
